Lake City native Darla Moore, along with officials from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina joined Florence School District 3 Thursday to announce that the Moore School’s high school talent pipeline program is expanding to FSD3.

FSD3 Superintendent Dr. Laura Hickson was joined for the official signing of the agreement between FSD3 and the Moore School by Dr. Rohit Verma, Dean, USC Educational Foundation Distinguished Professor and Professor of Management Science, and Dr. Deborah Hazzard, Associate Dean of Access, Opportunity and Community Engagement and Clinical Associate Professor of Management.

The Dominion Energy Power Forward Program is an innovative pipeline program that will now serve three South Carolina school districts: Florence 3, Richland County School District One and Richland School District Two.

“We are thrilled to establish a cohort of students to participate in the Darla Moore School of Business Power Forward Program,” Dr. Hickson said. “This program is not just an agreement on paper but a commitment to students’s future success and growth, a commitment that we are confident will lead to remarkable achievements. The Power Forward Program, with its innovative approach and abundant resources, will not only enrich our students' educational journey but also equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in future business programs and coursework,” she added.

Managed by the Moore School’s Office of Access, Opportunity and Community Engagement, the Power Forward Program provides a path to enrollment at the Moore School, career mentoring from Moore School faculty and staff, field studies, conferences and other programming for high school students. Launched in 2021, the program seeks to spark students' interest in business careers while linking them to the unmatched resources at the world-renowned Moore School.

Students in the Power Forward Program must meet the program's academic criteria, successfully submit an application and fulfill additional prerequisites to engage in the program, beginning as early as their freshman year of high school.

The Moore School plans to expand to additional South Carolina school districts in the coming years.
