Florence School District 3 has named Jason Cook principal of Lake City High School for the 2023-2024 school year.

A native of Lake City, Cook has been principal of East Clarendon Middle/High School since 2013. Before being named principal at East Clarendon, he served as the school’s assistant principal for four years.

Cook previously worked for six years in FSD3 as a physical education teacher and middle school athletic director at J. Paul Truluck Middle School and football assistant coach and head varsity baseball coach at Lake City High. He also was an administrative assistant at Main Street Elementary for one year.

Cook is a 1994 graduate of Lake City High and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education at Coker College. He earned a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina and an Education Specialist in Education Leadership from Coastal Carolina University.

"I am honored for the opportunity to be the principal at Lake City High School,” Cook said. “I have walked these halls as a student, taught and coached in these buildings, and now the opportunity to serve as the principal brings joy and excitement,” Cook added. “It truly takes a village to raise a child.  We will work extremely hard to ensure our students are prepared for the world when they leave us. Whether their goal is to attend college, join the military or enter the workforce, we all need a plan.”
