Shaquetta Cooper has been named Lake City High School’s head coach of the Lake City High School girls’ varsity basketball program.

Cooper, a 2008 graduate of LCHS, has risen through the program as the middle school and junior varsity head coach.  Following her graduation at LCHS, where she was a standout athlete and all-region basketball performer, Cooper attended Voorhees University where she continued her athletic career in basketball, volleyball and softball.

“Coach Coop is well-known in the Pee Dee as a developer of talent,” said LCHS Athletic Director Matt Apicella.  “She has helped to polish numerous local players from multiple schools. Her tenacity as a player has translated well to coaching and we are ecstatic to see where she can take the Lady Panthers basketball program.”

Cooper inherits a varsity program that posted a 7-14 record in 2023-24, but her JV squad was 14-3.

“I am excited for this opportunity and look to continue building the young talent in Lake City," said Cooper.  "We will play tough, fundamental basketball and will emphasize hard work and dedication in this program.”
