FSD3 Observes Arbor Day 2023

Florence School District 3’s annual observance of Arbor Day culminated Thursday with an awards ceremony at the Bean Market for winners of the literacy and art contests.

Each school participated in project-based learning activities to learn more about the importance of Arbor Day. Students engaged in both literacy and art design. The theme for this year’s Arbor Day observance was “Treemendous Possibilities.”

The program included the presentation of an Arbor Day proclamation by Lake City Mayor Yamekia Robinson, a musical selection by Taylor McKenzie of Main Street Elementary School and a dance performance by J. Paul Truluck Magnet School’s Dance Troupe.

Katie Ford, education coordinator at Moore Farms Botanical Garden, was the guest speaker.

Winners received certificates and prizes for their entries. District-level winners of the grade-level literacy contest were:
