FCSD3 to Hold Annual Back-To-School Parent Conference

Florence County School District Three will hold its annual Back-To-School Parent Conference Saturday, August 6, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lake City High School gym.

Registration is from 8-8:30 a.m. on the day of the conference.

The conference is free to all parents of FCSD3 students, and a continental breakfast and lunch will be provided to participants. Child care will also be provided. Participants will also receive free school supplies.

The conference includes speakers on various topics designed to provide parents with information they can use to assist in their children’s education.

Area pastors and ministers will share parenting wisdom from their points of view and local law enforcement officers will speak on the importance of being proactive toward violence in schools. In addition, Yolanda Anderson of the State Department of Education’s Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) will speak on the importance of bringing family and community engagement into the education. Markey Bee with the Francis Marion University’s Center of Excellence also will be on hand to talk about positive parenting.
