A Florence School District 3 educator has been named a recipient of a state literacy award by the Palmetto State Literacy Association.

Erica Poston, a reading interventionist, at Olanta Creative Arts and Science Magnet School, will receive the PSLA Distinguished Teacher of Literacy Award during the organization’s annual conference in Hilton Head on February 20-22.

The PSLA Distinguished Teacher of Literacy Award is presented to an outstanding teacher who promotes literacy through teaching service.

“My saying is ‘Literacy is my jam and I am here to spread it’,” Teaching Literacy is truly my passion and I love to incorporate technology, robotics, and arts to make reading both engaging and impactful,” Ms. Poston said. “My saying is ‘Literacy is my jam and I am here to spread it’.”

Ms. Poston is a 17-year veteran educator, including 10 years teaching in FSD3. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Emmanuel University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instructional technology from Coker University. She also has literacy coach, Letterland coach, and Letrs endorsements.
