Lake City High School has been honored by Cognia for achieving 100 years of continuous accreditation, marking a century of commitment to educational excellence. The recognition took place at the Florence School District 3 Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, October 17.

During the meeting, Dr. Annette Melton, Cognia’s Senior Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region, presented a commemorative plaque and banner to Florence School District 3 Superintendent Dr. Laura Hickson, Board of Trustees Vice-Chair Rebecca Yates and Lake City High School Principal Jason Cook. The presentation celebrated the school’s long-standing dedication to maintaining Cognia’s rigorous accreditation standards.

Cognia, a global leader in educational accreditation, ensures that schools meet high standards in areas such as productive learning environments, equitable resource allocation, and effective leadership. Schools must undergo both internal and external reviews to earn and maintain accreditation. Achieving accreditation from the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission signifies that a school meets these performance standards and remains committed to continuous improvement.

"We are incredibly proud of Lake City High School’s 100-year accreditation milestone," said Dr. Hickson. "This recognition reflects our district’s ongoing commitment to providing a high-quality education to every student and our dedication to excellence in all aspects of teaching and learning."

This significant achievement highlights Lake City High School’s legacy of delivering quality education and its pledge to fostering academic success for future generations.
