Florence School District 3 launched an initiative on Friday, November 15 to honor alumni who have served in the armed forces. In addition to the annual Veterans Day breakfast, typically organized by The Lake City High School Panther Battalion, FSD3 hosted the Inaugural Veterans Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
The event opened with the posting of the colors by cadets, followed by a poignant tribute to our fallen service members delivered by c/Cpt K’Mya Graham. Jason Wyatt Beard performed the National Anthem after which c/CPT Jalaya McDowell offered an invocation. C/CPL Brianna Shaw led the Cadet Creed, followed by opening remarks from c/CLTC Cameron Strickland.
The ceremony also featured a musical selection by D’Andre McDaniel, who sang "Impossible Dream."
Colonel (Retired) Camelia Scott-Skillern of the U.S. Army served as the guest speaker, emphasizing the importance of honoring our veterans and recognizing their sacrifices for our nation.
