FSD3 Launches Superintendent Search
Posted on 12/09/2025

Florence School District 3 has officially launched its search for its next Superintendent.

The FSD3 Board of Trustees is committed to conducting an inclusive and transparent process that reflects the voices and values of the students, families, staff and community members served by the district.

In addition to gathering public feedback, the Board is formed a Superintendent Search Committee, made up of a limited number of community stakeholders. Members of this advisory group will help review applications, participate in interviews, and provide feedback to the Board throughout the search process.

Board members serving on the committee are Gregory McKnight, Dr. Julia Mims, Paula Morris and Mattie Thomas. Other members of the committee include Ashley Jones Floyd (parent), Shayla Wilson (parent), Tina Duarte (teacher), Jessica Morningstar (teacher) and Christy Flowers (teacher).

The Board has scheduled a series of
stakeholder forums to gather community input as the district begins its search for a new superintendent.

The forums will be held in the Board Meeting Room behind the district’s administrative offices at 125 S. Blanding Street in Lake City on the following dates and times:

  • Thursday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 20, at noon
  • Monday, December 29, at 6:30 p.m.

These sessions provide an opportunity for parents, students, employees, business leaders, and other community members to share which qualities and qualifications they believe are most important for the next FSD3 superintendent.

APPLICATIONS
The Board is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the Superintendent position. Ideal applicants will demonstrate a strong record of leadership, collaboration, and a commitment to educational excellence. While candidates without a South Carolina superintendent certification will be considered, they must possess equivalent credentials and agree to obtain certification within a specified timeframe if selected. The new superintendent is expected to begin on May 1, 2026.
