Florence School District 3 celebrated its future educators during a special Future Teacher College Signing Day ceremony on Monday, May 18. The event, held in the boardroom at the FSD3 district office, honored graduating seniors who plan to pursue degrees in education and return to make a difference in the classroom.

Seven students participated in the celebration, officially committing to colleges and universities where they will begin their journeys toward becoming certified teachers.

As part of the FSD3’s continuing effort to grow and invest in homegrown talent, each student signed an agreement with the district that provides an early interview opportunity for teaching positions within the district upon successful completion of their teacher preparation programs and attainment of South Carolina teacher certification. The agreement also gives the students hiring preference as qualified applicants.

During the ceremony, students shared the names of teachers who inspired them to pursue careers in education. Each student also received gifts and handwritten notes of encouragement from district staff and supporters prior to the signing ceremony.

Students recognized during the ceremony included Lake City High School seniors Jordan Boyle, who plans to attend Benedict College to major in Music Education; De’Andre McDaniel, who will attend Morris College to major in Music Education; Tiesha Pinckney, who plans to attend Francis Marion University to study Early Childhood and Elementary Education; and Amari Hanna, who will attend Morris College to major in Early Childhood Education.

Students recognized from J. Paul Truluck Creative Arts and Science Magnet School were Addison Moore, who plans to attend Francis Marion University to major in Early Childhood Education; Madison Lee, who will attend Winthrop University to study Elementary Education; and Tara Lee, who plans to attend Francis Marion University to major in Early Childhood Education.

“Our students are answering a call to serve others through education, and we could not be more proud of them,” said Angelia Scott, Human Resources Director. “These future educators represent the very best of Florence School District 3 and we look forward to welcoming them back to our schools as teachers who will inspire the next generation of students.”
