Florence School District 3 has announced Jamison Estep as the head football coach at Lake City High School for the 2025-2026 school year.
Coach Estep stepped into the role of acting head coach last season following the absence of longtime head coach Ronnie Baker, who was seriously injured in a bus crash nearly two years ago. Under Coach Estep’s leadership, the team showed continued growth with the team qualifying for the playoffs despite the mental and physical obstacles presented by the accident. Following the season, Estep was named the 2024 South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year.
“It is an honor and privilege to be entrusted to lead the Panthers moving forward,” said Coach Estep. “We will work hard to ensure the program continues to be a source of pride for the school and the community.”
A physical education teacher and member of the Lake City High School athletic staff since 2008, Coach Estep has served as the Panthers’ defensive coordinator and assistant head coach. He has also led the school’s strength and conditioning program and currently serves as assistant athletic director.
“Coach Estep stood tall in a time of need,” said Matt Apicella, LCHS athletic director. “He never wavered from the mission of kids first. He deserves this shot to lead the program. I cannot think of a harder worker who is 100 percent loyal to the school and kids. I have complete faith in his leadership.”
