
Florence School District 3 is celebrating continued academic progress reflected in the 2025 South Carolina School Report Cards. The results showcase district-wide improvement in student achievement, college and career readiness, and high school graduation rates.
All district elementary schools earned an “Average” rating, with two schools making exceptional gains. J.C. Lynch Elementary School and Olanta Creative Arts and Science Magnet School both increased from “Below Average” to “Average,” each improving by more than 11 points from the previous year. These results highlight the schools’ focused work in literacy instruction, student engagement, and data-driven teaching practices.
The district also recorded significant growth at the secondary level. Lake City High School improved from an “Unsatisfactory” rating in 2024 to “Below Average” in 2025, showing meaningful progress in student outcomes and academic performance. J. Paul Truluck Creative Arts and Science Magnet School advanced from “Average” to “Good,” reflecting the school’s commitment to rigorous instruction and student success.
In addition to school rating improvements, the district demonstrated strong performance in key accountability areas:
- The district graduation rate increased from 74% to 84%.
- The percentage of students who are College or Career Ready (CCR) rose from 46% to 59%.
- The percentage of students scoring a C or higher on End-of-Course (EOC) exams increased in all tested areas except English 2.
- Six of eight FSD3 schools earned overall ratings of “Average” or “Good.”
- J.C. Lynch Elementary posted one of the most impressive academic gains in the state, with third-grade ELA “meets or exceeds” rising by 36 percentage points and math by 22 percentage points, both above state averages.
- Third- and fifth-grade ELA proficiency rates district-wide improved by more than 10 percent, signaling growth across multiple grade levels.
Interim Superintendent Kasey Feagin praised the dedication and collaboration shown throughout the district. “These gains show that when we set high expectations and support our teachers and students, improvement follows,” she said. “We are proud of this progress and we expect to build on this momentum.”
Florence School District 3 remains dedicated to continuous improvement and will continue implementing evidence-based instructional strategies, expanding literacy initiatives, and providing meaningful supports to ensure that every student is prepared for lifelong success.
