One newly elected member and four reelected members of the Florence County School District Three Board of Trustees were sworn in at the beginning of the board’s regular monthly meeting Thursday, January 19.
The five were elected to four-year terms on the board of trustees in last November’s general elections.
New board member Rebecca Yates, elected to represent District 1, along with re-elected board members Jac’Kel Brown (Seat 3), Mattie Thomas (Seat 4B), Paula Morris (Seat 6) and Jason Kirby (Seat 7B) each took the oath of office.
Board members were invited to have family members or other loved ones hold the Bibles while taking the oath of office.
The board also elected officers for the new year. Barbara Singletary-Bryant was reelected as board chair, while Jac’Kel Brown was elected vice-chair and Jason Kirby was elected secretary. Officers are elected by the board during the January meeting each year.
