Graham Signs with Newberry College

Lake City High School wrestler Keenan Graham has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his wrestling career at Newberry College.

“Newberry has a great wrestling program,” Graham said. “It’s an excellent school, and I really like the campus. It just felt like home to me. Plus, my dad and uncles all attended Newberry.”

Graham also had offers from The Citadel and Limestone College.

Graham, a four-year region champion, finished his high school career with a 120-17 record and the 2017 lower state champion at 160 lbs. He also was selected to participate in the 2017 Best Western North/South All-Star Wrestling Classic in March. Graham was a state qualifier in 2015 and placed third at 132 lbs. He also placed first in the Lugoff Demon Classic earlier this year.

Graham is a three-sport letterman at Lake City High, letting in wrestling, football and baseball. He also is an honor roll student and has completed over 100 hours of community service through the athletic department.

“Keenan is going to a great place at Newberry and will do great things there,” said Kevin Graham, Keenan’s father and LCHS wrestling coach. “It’s a challenge when you coach your own son. It’s sometimes tough to separate father and coach. I was always hard on him both as his coach and his father.”
