Florence School District 3’s Spring Parent Academy is scheduled for Mondays, March 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Lake City High School.

Parents interested in any of the four-week sessions are asked to complete an application (application link) and return to their children’s school or the FSD3 District Office by Monday, March 2.

Session for parents include:

  • Computer Skills – This class will help you become more comfortable using your computer by teaching you basic computer skills, internet safety, and how to use Word, including creating documents such as resumes, in a supportive learning environment.
  • Employment Skills – Are you ready to find a job or are you looking for a new job? We can help you by teaching you how to find jobs online, how to complete online applications, and teach you some interview skills. Participants will also have an opportunity to participate in a Florence School District 3 Recruitment Fair.
  • Personal Finance – Learn money management skills including setting up and following a budget to understand and set financial goals, learn to manage borrowing and debt, and learn about earning power and financial services. Participate in fun activities that will teach you how to save money such as extreme couponing.
  • Starting a Small Business – Learn how to start your own craft business. You will create a craft item, learn how to price your items for sale, and learn how to market and advertise your item.

A light dinner will be served at each session and childcare will be provided.

The Spring Parent Academy celebration will take place on Tuesday, April 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Lake City High School.
