Parents and students turned out Tuesday at J. Paul Truluck Creative Arts and Science Magnet School for Florence County School District Three annual District Showcase.

The event allows parents an opportunity to see the myriad programs offered by district schools so they can make informed decisions about which one best serves the needs and interests of their children.

Superintendent Laura Hickson gave parents an overview of the district’s mission, goals, beliefs and school choice options.

Principals talked to the audience about the educational offerings at their respective schools. Schools also had information tables, which gave parents an opportunity to ask questions and to talk with school officials about the educational opportunities at each school so they can make informed decisions about the best programs for their children.

Tuesday also marked the opening of the student application window for Olanta Creative Arts and Science Magnet School for grades K-5) and J. Paul Truluck Creative Arts and Science Magnet School for grades 6-10. The application window is open until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1. The online application is available at https://florence3.novuschoice.com/.
