A member of Florence County School District Three’s Board of Trustees has resigned from the board effective immediately.

Terrie Gaskins-Bryant submitted her letter of resignation to board chairperson Barbara Singletary-Bryant Tuesday. Mrs. Gaskins-Bryant said she feels she is not able to devote the time needed to be an effective board member because of the demands of pursuing an advanced degree.

“My educational commitments have become too great for me to be able to fulfill the requirements of my position on the Board, and I feel it is best for me to make room for someone with the time and energy to devote to the job,” her letter states.

Mrs. Gaskins-Bryant has represented voting district 4B, which includes a portion of Lake City and extends west along Highway 341 toward Olanta, since 2013. She was elected to serve as the board secretary by her fellow FCSD3 board members earlier this year.

We appreciate Mrs. Bryant’s hard work and dedication to Florence County School District Three,” said Ms. Singletary-Bryant. “She will be greatly missed.”

According to state law, the seat will remain vacant since the general election is less than 180 days away.
