Florence County School District3's board of trustees voted Wednesday to extend virtual instruction for students until January 29 due to the high number of COVID cases and exposures in the area and among staff and students.

The vote came in a virtual called meeting of the board Wednesday evening.

Also, the board voted to extend the Families First Coronavirus Response Act's expiration date, which provided  (80 hours) of paid leave for employees affected by the pandemic, through March 31.
