To:  FCSD3, Students, Parents, Faculty, Staff and Community

From:  Barbara Bryant, FCSD3 Chairwoman and the Board of Trustees

It is with Heartfelt Sincerity that we come to you today to inform you that School Safety and Academic Success are two of the goals of this board and we wanted to let you know that the FCSD3 Board and I are greatly concerned about everything that has been going on in our district, the surrounding districts and the nation.

We do not want to have to hear about students getting arrested or destroying their lives because of a felony on their records, as well as the possibility of expulsion from school.

It grieves our hearts that All of the good things that Superintendent Hickson and her staff are trying to do to make sure that our children are in a Safe Environment and to provide a good Quality Education, are being diminished because we have a few students that Do Not want their education.

FCSD3 will take the necessary steps to ensure the Safety and Education of Our Students!

Parents, we plead with you to sit down and talk to your children about appropriate behavior and how they should conduct themselves during the school day, while in the community and at home.

We will not tolerate-Disorderly Conduct-Level 1, Disruptive Conduct-Level II or Criminal Conduct-Level III which includes assault and battery, extortion, bomb threats, possession or use and transfer of dangerous weapons, sexual offenses, vandalism, theft, possession or sale of stolen property, arson, furnishing or selling unauthorized & controlled substances. The Distribution, sale, purchase of manufacture or unlawful possession of a controlled substance, threatening to take the life or inflict bodily harm upon a teacher, principal or members of their immediate family also are Level III offenses. These are just a few examples.

We have specific policies in place, and they will be enforced.

If you are not familiar with policies JCAC-Use of Metal Detectors and Policy JCDA-Student Behavior Code, please go on the district’s website (www.florence3.k12.sc.us) or contact your child’s school to make sure you are informed and involved.

We will not tolerate bullying. If any child is being bullied, please report it to the teacher and if nothing is done then your next step should be the school administrators.

Every child deserves to be in a safe Learning Environment Free of harassment.

From our Hearts to Yours, we plead with you to Stay Informed and Get Involved!

We Believe in Our Children, Our District and We support Supt. Hickson along with our Staff as they are working diligently to make a Difference!

Sincerely,

Barbara Bryant & FCSD3 Board of Trustees
