Act 155 Graduates Can Apply for High School Diplomas

Through the passage of Act 155, the South Carolina General Assembly approved the removal of the exit exam as a requirement for graduation beginning with the graduating class of 2015. The elimination of the exit exam (BSAP/HSAP) requirement is retroactive to the graduating classes from 1990-2014.

A person no longer enrolled in a public school who was denied graduation solely for failing to meet the exit exam requirement may petition the local school board of trustees to determine his or her eligibility to receive a high school diploma.

If you believe this legislation applies to you, contact Florence County School District Three’s Office of Student Services at 843-374-8652, extension 1119.

The office will pull records to verify that all graduation requirements were met with the exception of the exit examination. If this is the case, the district will submit your name to request that you be issued a high school diploma. Make sure the Office of Student Services has accurate contact information for you so that you can be contacted when the diploma is issued.

The deadline for applying is December 31, 2017.
