FCSD3 Board Member Recognized for 15 Years of Service

Dr. Julia Mims, a board of trustees member for Florence County School District Three, has been recognized by the South Carolina School Boards Association for 15 years of school board service.

Dr. Mims has served on the board of trustees from 1990-1999 and from 2011 to the present.

This year, 34 school board members from throughout the state received special lapel pins for reaching the 10- or 15-year benchmark.

Veteran school board members provide vision and valuable leadership for school districts. SCSBA and the local boards honor these board members for their long-term dedication to improving student achievement in their communities.

In January 2016, in South Carolina about 43 percent of the state’s 596 school board members had served four years or less, and about 32 percent had 10 years or more of board service.

SCSBA is a nonprofit organization serving as a source for information and a statewide voice for boards governing the 81 school districts.
