Lake City High Welcomes Alumni for Homecoming Weekend

Lake City High School alumni returned to their alma mater Friday morning to kick off the Homecoming weekend.

The school hosted a breakfast of shrimp and grits, fresh fruit and biscuits prepared by the culinary arts classes before giving alumni an overview of current programs and initiatives at the school, including New Tech, athletics and the College Cohort. Student ambassadors then took groups of alumni on a tour to get a firsthand look at the educational programs offered at the school.

Alumni were then invited to attend the Homecoming pep rally in the school gym.

The alumni day at the school is part of the weekend Homecoming celebration organized by the Lake City High School Alumni Association. The association, along with the booster club, organized a tailgating event prior to Friday night’s football game.

Saturday’s events include a parade at 10 a.m. followed by “Tailgating Part II” at Word Memorial Stadium from 12-5 p.m. Saturday’s tailgating event includes a cook off as well as flag football, kick ball and a line dance competition in addition to games for children.

Saturday night, the Alumni Association is sponsoring “Mardi Gras on the Green” beginning at 8:30 p.m. in front of the National Bean Market Museum with music by Black Alley.

The weekend concludes Sunday with a church service at Lake City High gym at 10 a.m. and an alumni meeting at 3 p.m.
